Tamara Hazlett
As a child I was in love with animals, and in particular dogs. This love of animals led me to earn a degree in pre-veterinary medicine and a Masters Degree in animal science. I then conducted research at the University of Arkansas.
During this time, I begin training personal protection German Shepherds- a passion I've returned to off and on ever since. The breed became the absolute love of my life: powerful, intelligent, high-drive, energetic, and at times, a bit crazy. Training in the sport of Personal Protection taught me how to work WITH dogs rather trying to dominate them. It also taught me that they thrive when they have a firm but kind leader to teach them the rules and boundaries that help them become the best versions of themselves.
Years later, becoming a professional dog trainer as a second career was a natural fit. Friends and neighbors begin asking me for help. Complete strangers would stop me asking for advise after seeing me out with my Shepherds. It was then that I realized how many people needed help finding harmony with their dogs.
I named my business Love Your K9 because so many owners were not in love with their K9's – they were downright miserable. I took what I learned from raising and training Shepherds and applied it to pet dogs, knowing that if I could get a high energy, jumping, biting, and pulling German Shepherd to be calm and well mannered, both at home and in public, I could help pet dogs do the same.
While running my private training business, I spent 12 years working as the Training Director for an amazing animal rescue called Hoof Woof And Meow. I worked with dogs of all ages and backgrounds that were terrified, shut down, lacking in confidence and anxious. Others were high strung and out-of-control, having never had any training in their life. In order to get them adopted they had to learn manners and calmness. Adoption day was my favorite day because we watched dogs that had been transformed by training going to their forever homes where they would get the love that many of them had never experienced before.
Over the last 15 years, I've helped over 800 owners achieve peace and calm with their dogs. I've learned that the key is to educate the owners on how to train their own dogs. When they understand why their dog is behaving the way it is, and learn the skills to handle the issues themselves, they end up with the best relationship with their dog. They learn how to work with their dog in a way that they understand. Suddenly what was difficult becomes a lot simpler for both of them.

We offer full support by phone and text between sessions and even after the training is done!
With over 15 years experience, we've dealt with virtually every type of dog training and behavior problem, but we're also honest enough to tell you if you need more intense training than we offer. In those cases, we'll refer you to another trusted trainer more suited to your needs. In other words, your success is more important than our egos.
